I just bought a Dell XPS8940 10th gen WITH 1.0TB SSD and 2.0TB HDD 64 gb memory after handing down a one-year old Dell XPS 8930 9th gen tower to my husband which I had a compatible HDMI monitor because the 5-year old Dell XPS I handed down to him had problems turning on and he had no patience for it. The 5-yr old came with a Dell VGA monitor which I had to re-use as I hate tossing out perfectly good monitors, It was VGA-only so I figured it is worth it to take a chance on this adapter. I had to wait a week after my new tower was delivered so I couldn’t wait to see if it would work, I was skeptical because I read reviews here that one would have to fiddle with resolution adjustmentes, etc… but NO, it worked perfectly the first time.. Don’t hesitate, this is a great product. I saw many similar adapters selling for a lot more which didn’t make sense because honestly that is all it is, an adapter.

I bought it to connect my laptop to an older monitor and it does its work properly in general.
The only problem I had is that the laptop\windows doesn’t recognize it connected to a monitor only and redirect also the sound that way – go to sound settings to fix it and you good. Not sure whether this problem can be solved on the level of the adapter, but if yes – it is very recommended, otherwise I would suggest to add some sort of instruction paper.

I bought this because another review had mentioned it worked well for using with a KVM. I use a NOTECONS2 (USB KVM) that only has a VGA input, and occasionally run into a system that has DP/DVI/HDMI but no VGA. This HDMI to VGA adapter was inexpensive, and works well for letting me use my existing KVM with those other systems.
Specifically, I have verified that it works with an NVIDIA Titan X, and a Dell 5510 HDMI as the HDMI sources. I assume it will work with others, but those were my two immediate needs, and this worked great.

Does exactly what I need it to do. I use a laptop for school so it’s been nice to have something to make it so I can use an old monitor without spending a lot of money. Simple to use and the quality seems fine to me.

I recently upgraded my graphics card and it didn’t have a VGA slot. This was the best and cheapest solution. Otherwise I would have needed to buy a new monitor.
