Using it as storage for NVR – works alright, no noticeable noise, no issues.

Works well. Toshiba HDDs usually last longer; however, they can produce more noise. With Hikvision NVR and DVR, they have a feature built into the software that can monitor temperatures on Seagate HDDs. However, the operating system still reads the HDD temperature of all hard drives and can alert you if they overheat. This could be one reason people go for Seagate, but even after two years, it’s still fine. If there was a fault, it would usually die within 12 months.
