I must say that I love this little e-reader (I added a photo with my wallet for scale).
Been using it about twice a day since I got it (roughly about 1-2 hours a day). The inkPalm 5 Pro Mini is just what I was looking for. I know there are other options for e-readers in this form factor like the Boox Palma, but for an extra $100+, I didn’t really have any use for the Palma’s extra features such as the camera.
I wanted a dedicated device with few to no distractions so that I could concentrate on what this was built for: reading.
Although it runs an older version of Android, that really hasn’t been a stumbling block for me so far. There is an app store for the inkPalm but it is pretty paltry (and in Chinese; Amazon Appstore is available too). So I just ended up side-loading one of of my favorite reading apps, transferred some purchased ePUBs over to it via USB, and I was up and running in no time, and I was surprised at how quick.
I would recommend this reader for those who are a little-bit more technically savvy, as I had to put in a tiny bit of elbow grease to make the reader my own, and I was a little disappointed that there was no microSD slot (hence the 4/5 rating).
But if you can deal, you’ll save yourself a lot of money and get maximum reading portability in the process. Throwing in a case with the inkPalm was just icing on the cake.

Battery life sucks maybe 4 to 5 hours of read time before its bugging out every minute that it’s at 15% or less and needs recharged. All the apps are Chinese except Amazon store and Kindle app but it must be Chinese or hack versions because they don’t work the same and have limited functionality. Half the time it’s a struggle to get it to download new books even if I cycle the power and the app. Every 20 pages or so the screen glitches scrambles between pages and you have to turn the screen off and back on. Total piece of garbage wish I never bought it and I wouldn’t even give it to anyone unless I was trying to get rid of them.

1. Great compact size. Similar to a smart-phone, but without the weight or thickness.
2. Default in English
Cons:
1. Poor UX – sluggish, even on “graphics mode”
2. Keyboard stalls and keys don’t register — very frustrating
3. Can’t return back home after opening app — need to restart
Full disclosure, I didn’t have the patience to get Kindle setup. I also don’t like the idea of sharing my Amazon/Kindle credentials on this Chinese device. I will return and keep looking for a mini e-reader.
