Bought this WD Green 240GB SSD for external, temporary file storage. Works well for basic backups and light usage—especially helpful with older potato laptops. Not ideal for storing important data long-term, but for everyday transfers, it’s great value for money.

I have a HP laptop I purchased from Costco in ’22 and it had a HDD and never really worked right. It finally got so slow that I was ready to get another one. But when I looked at the performance the HDD was always right at 100% no matter what so I thought that despite the properites saying it working correctly, maybe it’s the hard drive. I pruchased this one and a inexpensive SATA cable and used Acronis to clone the drive which took over two hours. Once that was done I swapped the old internal HD for this one and it fired up on the first boot in seconds. Now it’s like a new PC shuts down and loads in seconds rather than minutes. I’m doing any gaming or anything but all I can say is this disk saved me from buying a new PC. Very happy with it and it’s performance. It loads programs and apps extremely quickly.

My overall experience has been extremely positive.
The drive arrived promptly and was exceptionally well-packaged. It was nestled securely in anti-static protection within a sturdy box, ensuring it arrived in perfect condition. It’s reassuring to see attention paid to protecting the hardware.
Performance-wise, this SSD delivers. My main goal was to get extra space, my OS is in NVME SSD 500 GB and it has certainly achieved that. I benchmarked the drive and achieved sequential read speeds consistently around the 545 MB/s mark, which aligns perfectly with the advertised capabilities for a SATA III interface.

I got two of these WD Green SSDs. Both have stopped working in 2 years 10 months. Absolutely useless.

I used it in my laptop and installed linux on it I gives me 100mb read speed and ~95mb write speed. Also works good with cady have aditional scrues to fin in cady.
