I wanted a 8-9 inch tab for reading. As an academic researcher and more or less a power user, I wanted to use the tab for reading research papers and probably transfer my reading experience from a laptop to a simple tab. This tab satisfies the purpose. Moreover, i don’t see a Helio G99 level performance in any tab in the price range.
Other than that,
The cameras are cruel. They useless mostly, except for maybe very basic video conferencing. With such a bad read camera, I have no idea why it’s has a camera bump. It could have been more low profile.
The battery life is good. I have an LTE version, but I haven’t put a sim in it yet. Probably it will be average to good if I use a sim card. I will be happy if the same battery capacity holds up for atleast 4 years.
The screen resolution is good enough for reading and frequent binging. The brightness can go a bit lower in my opinion. It’s too bright sometimes when I read in the dark.
It’s easy to carry. My main reason to buy a 8-9 inch tab. It’s nearly no different than holding a phone.
I use “Duet Display” to use it as a second screen to my laptop or desktop. It’s useful sometimes.
I would say my old iPad Air (1st Gen) was still better as it still had some juice left in it and the display was great. Galaxy A9 wont beat it in anything except the performance. It feels more fluid using the A9.
Performance wise, it doesn’t feel as snappy as my phone (Poco F1), ofcourse. But it’s snappy enough. You can’t compare it with the performance of this generation mid range mobile phones. If you want anything for AAA gaming, you better buy a mobile phone at this cost, not a tablet. Or, buy a tablet at Rs. 30k +.
For me, it’s a perfect compromise between reading in my laptop (14inch) and my mobile .
I got my money’s worth.
Close competitors, it depends upon your use case. There might be Tabs with better display, but with slower processors. Like the realme pad, Mi Pad and Nokia T21. My niche was the size. You niche can be what you want.

Is a great tablet in 8.7 inch category
Gaming is enough so you can play at high fps with decent graphics its the same processor as in oneplus pad go+1
Up scaled 1440p +1
Low ppi not noticeable unless you look for it +0
Note:s pen does not come with A series tablet it come with s series tablet some are(tab s6 lite, tab s7fe 12.4inch, tab s9fe 11inch, tab s9fe+ 12.4 inch, 12.4 inch is a lot big than you might think go to your closest samsung store or croma store to find out if you need such a big screen)
There is some discolouration when screen is on and its pitch black in a video or photo but not normally +0
Headphone jack +2(+1 for a rare specimen)
Cable provided but not the brick -1
One ui on Android 13 and the amazing features it offers +2
Speakers are decent what else can you expect from 2 small speakers definitely louder than a cheap mobile but a good competitor for a flagship phone+1
Touch response some were complaining mostly due to screen protector I had no problem+0
Front camera is an absolute abomination for today’s standard but hey whose out there taking a selfie with a tablet decent for meetings
Airport for scale. In the picture.
This is the third time me writing this review

What I like……….Nice size, span a grip with one hand, easy carry. It will fly a DJI mini 2 drone. It will connect to an external HD. It does have an SD card slot and SIM card slot. And it has a real Samsung processor. Not many do. The only thing I noticed, it’s not powerful enough to run Video editing software. But plays videos no problem.

This review is not for product but the delivery and return process of amazon. Ordered this tablet and found out that this one is not charging at all, so called the amazon customer support and they said ‘no worries, get a diagnostic report from samsung service centre and with that certificate, return the product’. So i went to samsung care and the guys over there helped getting me the diagnostic report certificate named “dead on arrival” (DOA).
Now, i called the amazon customer support and they arranged pickup for return of tablet (with DOA certificate) and delivery of new tablet. And here comes the paradox… (Remember why i was returning the tablet? It wasn’t charging, and so it was literally dead on battery)
The delivery guy says he needs to see the IMEI number on the device in the ‘about device’ menu on the battery dead tablet, i said it is impossible since the tablet won’t start. He said ‘then I can not complete the process’ and left.
I again made a call to amazon customer service and the guy on the line said ‘sir, you are our prime member, we’ll have it sorted in 24 hrs’ and again arranged the pickup + delivery.
Again the loop started, the delivery guy wanted the IMEI number on dead tablet and without that he wouldn’t process the delivery of new tablet.
I was stuck in this paradox of showing IMEI number of the dead device by going to about section of device which needs it to get powered up first (that the tab obviously can’t)
But this delivery guy was considerate enough, he said, let’s try putting it on charge and even if I get pic of that ‘about device’ menu that shows the IMEI number, I’ll process the return right away. My luck struck the right chord over there and i was able to switch the tablet on in the Nth attempt (10+ attempts were made to charge the device but it would just vibrate once and then proceed to blackout) it started and with 1% battery indicating in the corner i got the IMEI number on the screen from the device setting and the delivery guy took picture of it and then the tablet died.
I got the new tablet as replacement and it’s working good.
So who’s at fault here for this headache? Amazon customer service said that the tablet will be replaced just with certificate, delivery team was more interested in starting the dead tablet to verify the IMEI number… So I guess it’s the communication between the amazon and it’s delivery team.

Product is brand new, mine was marked with a sticker “warranty for 24 months in Africa “ but setup up easily and works perfectly. Great price for a decent quality tablet. Very happy.
