Recently purchased WD SN580_500GB ssd
There is newer version available in WD DASHBOARD which is 121040WD. And currently version is 121010WD. Everytime when I trying to update this firmware it getting failed and when i try to contact customer care they behave like nothing to respond on this issue

I recently upgraded my old HP i3 7th gen laptop (which comes with HDD) with the WD SN580 500GB NVMe SSD, and overall, I’m very pleased with the performance boost it delivered. Here’s my detailed experience:
Performance & Speed:
After installing the SN580, I ran benchmarks using CrystalDiskMark. The results showed a sequential read speed of about 3500 MB/s and a sequential write speed of around 3200 MB/s. Initially, I was a bit disappointed since the product description touts up to 4000 MB/s read and 3600 MB/s write speeds. However, I soon discovered that my laptop’s M.2 slot is only PCIe Gen 3.0, which naturally limits the maximum throughput. In my case, these speeds are near the top end for a Gen 3 interface, so the SSD is performing exactly as expected under my system’s constraints.
Build & Compatibility:
The SN580 is an M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe SSD, which fits perfectly in my laptop. The installation was straightforward (I’d my screw already placed by HP), and it’s clear that Western Digital has built a reliable product with excellent durability and a 5-year warranty.
Real-World Impact:
Since installing the SN580, my system (Windows) boot times have dropped dramatically—from 4-8 minutes to just around 25-30 seconds! (Come on it’s hugeee !! Since my processor is i3) Applications/softwares load quickly, and everyday tasks are noticeably smoother. No heating problems so far. The performance boost has made my laptop feel brand new frr.
Final Thoughts:
If you’re upgrading a system with a PCIe Gen 3 interface, don’t be alarmed if you don’t hit the absolute maximum advertised speeds. The WD SN580 still offers a tremendous improvement over SATA SSDs and is a great value for the price (I bought it in ₹3049). Just be aware of your system’s limitations: in a Gen 3 environment, the speeds I experienced (3500 MB/s read and 3200 MB/s write) are essentially the best you can get, (it’ll reach it’s advertised speed on a gen4 environment)
Overall, I highly recommend this drive for anyone looking to significantly boost their laptop’s performance. To increase overall performance of my old processor, I only focused on upgrading RAM like others but soon I realised it’s upto a limit, If you truly want your system to run on it’s maximum potential, just upgrade your SSD from SATA to NVMe + your RAM). Enjoy the lightning-fast responsiveness.

The product is good with 300tbw(which all sdd seakers dont know) the speed is good and overall performance of sdd is satisfactory. Happy with WD Ssd purchase.

Received on 20 Sept 2024. I installed WD SN580 500 GB NVME Gen 4×4 SSD in NVME gen 3 slot of my laptop in order to get full read/write speed of Gen 3×4. It definitely improved a performance to a great extent. However the seal of the box was already open. So I was skeptical about the product if it was used earlier. I used Crystaldiskinfo to get the information about this SSD and found that it is indeed unused SSD. The manufacturing date on SSD is 31 Oct 2023 and the manufacturing month/year on the box is August 2024. I will blame the seller (CLICKTECH RETAIL PRIVATE LIMITED) for their deceptive behavior.

It is a very light, powerful product with good speed of 4000 MB/s , it so work very good with starting windows and all, 500 gb would be great for doing college work, gaming, stream, time saving, etc would recommend the company to give screw with it , fit right in the socket left for nvme SSD , I put this in Lenovo IdeaPad gaming L340 bought in Oct, 2020 . Great product for price 2500

If you want a good budget SSD, this is your best option. I installed this on an old HP laptop and used it as the boot drive. It works like a charm. The speed of the laptop is unbelievable. Although this SSD doesn’t have DRAM, it uses HMB technology to the same effect. This is highly recommended.
