Rounak Dutta –
Update:
The module which failed after few minutes of usage is still not working, but after few weeks of the original comment, I looked into the modules again and made the second one work:
1. with full length songs the module plays the music but with short length tracks, say a few seconds of sound effects, etc it does not play and skips.
There’s a difference between dfplayers with MH and JL ICs, as in MH IC dfplayer mini module (bought separately), even short length audio file (say 2-3 secs) plays, unlike the one here with JL IC.
2. Note to self and others: Please check if any of the header pin’s solder is touching the sdcard metal case/holder (except for two ground pins), as I remember fixing such short in one of my modules, not sure if this was the one or not. This can happen as the clearance between the headers and the sdcard holder is very small.
Added two more stars in the rating, as atleast one of the module plays music.
Original Comment:
The modules I got has JL IC, with no datasheet available. One worked for few minutes out of the box and now it does not even work in standalone, and the 2nd one is not working out of the box. The blue led dimly lights momentarily, when I connect the next/prev pins to ground, but no sound. SD card formatted according to DFPlayer datasheet and the songs play in another DF player mini I have, which has the MH IC. 🙁
